I like granola… but often it has a TON of added sugar and fat. So I rarely buy it. I think of it as “fake” healthy food. Seems like it would be healthy but it’s really not. Unless you make it healthy, then it can be. This granola is about 100 calories per 1/4 cup. Awesome? I thought so.
This couldn’t have been any easier to make – or any more delicious. It’s low on added sugar so it’s not super clumpy like some granola but I like the way it came out. It’s perfect for adding to yogurt or just snacking on.
I found this recipe on katheats.com. You can click the link to check it out.
- 2 cups old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp canola oil
- 1 tbsp golden brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 300*. Heat honey until thin. Add other coatings. Mix well. Add coconut, almonds and oats and stir to coat well. Spread onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes. Stir mixture. Bake for another 5 minutes. Stir again. Bake 3 minutes more, until mixture is golden brown.
You might have to make modifications on the time it bakes, I did. Also, others commented that they replaced the canola oil with egg whites. Play around with it… it’s easy and delicious!
oh that granola looks amazing!
